Privacy Policy

Meditation Timer works without an account. If you choose to sign in, we collect only what we need to sync your settings and practice history. We do not sell personal information or use meditation data for advertising.
1. What we collect
On your device: Timer state, duration and bell settings, sound choices, theme, and recent quote history are stored in your browser. They stay on that device unless eligible settings are synced after you sign in.
If you create an account: Clerk handles authentication. We process an account ID, email address, first name, optional profile image, timezone, and synced settings. If you use Google Sign-In, we receive only your Google account ID, name, email, and profile image. We never receive your Google password.
Practice data: For signed-in users, we save session start time, actual and planned duration, completion status, selected background sound, and aggregate statistics. We do not record audio, microphone input, journal entries, or the content of your meditation.
Technical and support data: Vercel Analytics and our hosting systems may process page views, browser and device details, approximate region, IP address, and diagnostic or security logs. If you contact us, we receive your email and message.
2. How we use information
We use information to provide and sync the Service, calculate your statistics, authenticate accounts, answer support requests, prevent abuse, diagnose problems, understand basic usage, improve the Service, and comply with law. We do not use personal information for targeted advertising.
3. Google user data
If you choose Google Sign-In:
- we access your basic profile only after you authorize it and use it only to authenticate you, create or link your account, display account information, and provide support;
- Clerk manages the Google authentication flow and tokens, while we store only the limited profile information needed for your Meditation Timer account;
- we do not request access to Gmail, Drive, Calendar, contacts, files, or other Google services; and
- we do not sell Google data, share it with advertisers or data brokers, or use it to train artificial-intelligence models.
Meditation Timer’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
5. Retention and security
Local data remains until you or your browser clears it. Account information, synced settings, and sessions remain while your account is active and are removed from our active database when you delete it. Limited support, security, legal, or backup records may remain temporarily where reasonably necessary. We use encrypted connections and account-level access controls, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.
6. Your choices
- Use the core timer without an account.
- Clear meditationtimer.io site data to remove information stored on your device.
- Review account details through Settings → Manage account.
- Delete your account through Manage account → Security → Delete account. Clear browser data separately to remove local information.
- Review or revoke Google access from your Google Account connections. Revoking access does not by itself delete your Meditation Timer account.
Depending on where you live, you may also request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or portability of your personal information. Contact us to make a request; we may need to verify your identity.
7. Children, changes, and contact
Meditation Timer is a general-audience service and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
We may update this policy as the Service changes. We will update the date above and provide additional notice or request consent when required, including before using Google data for a materially different purpose.
